Pedestrian Routing and Perspectives: WayFinder’s Route down the Lane—Come on with the Rain

People living in urban areas are often exposed to heat and inundation caused by heavy rains. Therefore, pedestrian routing weather-related threats can be of value citizens. In this study, water accumulated on roads, sidewalks footpaths after rainfall snowmelt was used as a case adverse environmental conditions. Pedestrian implemented the web tool WayFinder group 56 participants tested Trondheim, Norway. The study aimed gain insight into their perspectives functionality examine what extent pedestrians find such helpful for navigating regions that likely inundated. Each participant asked (1) use practice; (2) when walking, report observed inundated areas; (3) complete three questionnaires provide feedback tool. Although most were successful using WayFinder, they preferred selection routes passed through obtaining information about risks than selecting single route suggestion already avoided areas.
